From the Ground Up: How Space In Time is Redefining Luxury by Understanding the Origins of Craft

At Space In Time, we believe that great design isn’t just about how a space looks — it’s about understanding what it’s made of, where it comes from, and how it’s built. That’s why our Director, Jadan Claire, recently took an immersive journey through China’s manufacturing heartlands — visiting Guangzhou, Zhongshan, and Foshan — to explore the factories and people behind the materials that define our projects.

This wasn’t your typical supplier visit. It was a deep dive into the lifeline of luxury construction, starting at the source:

Lighting factories in Zhongshan, where precision, innovation, and artistry fuse to create statement fixtures that do more than just illuminate.
Millwork workshops in Guangzhou, where raw timber transforms into custom cabinetry and architectural details with millimeter-perfect execution.
Tile and stone factories in Foshan, where cutting-edge technology meets ancient craft to produce surfaces that tell a story — from classic marble to ultra-modern large format porcelain slabs.

These hands-on visits weren’t just about inspecting samples or approving quality. They were about building relationships, witnessing production processes firsthand, and gaining a real understanding of how materials evolve — from raw form to refined product.

We believe in knowing the entire material journey, from inception to installation. It's what gives us — and in turn, our clients — an edge. When we advise on products, we’re not just speaking from catalogs or showrooms. We're sharing insight grounded in experience — understanding how lighting performs under heat, how wood reacts to climate, or how tile finish affects long-term wear.

This commitment to deep product knowledge is woven into every Space In Time project. Whether we’re crafting a flagship luxury retail store or a bespoke interior, we make decisions that respect both the art and the science of design.

Because when you understand the story behind the materials, you don’t just build beautiful spaces —
you build them better.
